Health Benefit #3: Reduce Stress

The Simplicity of Hydrotherapy

Relax and Reduce Stress

The link between stress and illness should be of interest to anyone concerned with their health. We all have stress in our daily lives relating to work, family, and society. Mental tensions, frustrations, and insecurity are among the most damaging types of stress.

Affected by stress, the heart works harder, breathing becomes more rapid and shallow, and digestion slows. Nearly every process of the body is degraded. Researchers have estimated that 80% of disease is stress related. Since we usually can't avoid it, the key to dealing with stress is relieving it!

Managing stress is a key to good mental and physical health. Soaking in a Hot Tub three times a week for 20 minutes at a time is a wonderful way to relieve stress and restore your sense of well-being. The consequences of not managing stress - even "good" stress like the birth of child or a promotion - are well documented, from headaches to insomnia to serious illness. New research is showing just how pervasive and lasting the damage can be.

Researchers from the University of Florida have concluded that mental stress can actually cut the blood flow to the heart in some people, which in turn raises their risk of death from heart disease by a whopping threefold. There's also evidence that even short-term stress can cause lasting physical changes in the brain -- findings that help explain the devastating symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.

A research team from The Hebrew University in Jerusalem looked at what happened to mouse brain cells and to live mice following brief exposure to different types of stress. They found that within minutes of exposure, brain nerve cells, or neurons, became hypersensitive. And the change lasted for several weeks -- long after the stress was gone. This is in keeping with victims of post-traumatic stress, who despite time and distance from the original trauma remain physically, mentally, and emotionally agitated.

A soothing and relaxing soak in a hot tub can help counteract stress and its effects on the human body. It is the perfect antidote to a hectic and stressful lifestyle. The warm waters and soothing massage work to relieve anxiety and relax your tense muscles.

Numerous independent studies have proven that a warm water massage stimulates the release of endorphins, the body's natural "feel good" chemical. Your hot tub will enhance your sense of well being, and leave you feeling fresh, clean, and ready to tackle life's daily challenges.

Balance

“Aren't we all trying to bring balance to our lives?” asks Kerri Brooks-Richard (one of Artistic Group's owners), “We all need a sanctuary at home to escape from the ugliness in the world, heal, reflect, find our purpose and reconnect with loved ones.”

We have all heard that health is wealth. And that money can't buy happiness. We also know that the healthier in body, mind and soul we are the easier it is to be happy.

Some of the greatest advances in modern health have come from the benefits to personal hygiene associated with clean water and indoor plumbing. Yet people once thought having clean running water flowing into the home was a luxury. Today we accept it as a given, an essential for health. A Hot Tub is really an investment in your health and happiness.
